It’s Our People Who Make Us: People-Centric Inside and Out

By Avolve Software | July 24, 2024

When Glenda Swindler joined Avolve Software six years ago as a Senior Project Manager, it wasn’t her first time working alongside the company. Prior to coming onboard at Avolve, Glenda served as a systems analyst for the building and planning department at the City of Wichita, Sedgwick County, where she managed their IT needs, including permitting ePlan software. It was Glenda who had led the purchase, implementation, and upgrade of ProjectDox — insight which has served her well in her tenure at Avolve.

“It's kind of unique for me,” Glenda shared. “I’ve been on both sides of the table, and I even attended conferences as a customer back in the day.”

When Glenda saw an opening on the Avolve website, it was her prior experiences with the company that encouraged her to apply. “Having worked with Avolve as a customer, I knew they genuinely cared about their clients. That really appealed to me because I give 100% to whoever I’m working with, and Avolve really embodies that philosophy,” Glenda said.

In her day-to-day role as a Senior Project Manager, Glenda gets to do just that — work closely with customers and care for their implementations as if they were her own.

Glenda noted that Avolve’s people-first philosophy isn’t only reserved for customers: “We always talk about Avolve as a big family, and it really feels that way. I love that I can go to senior leaders and ask them questions myself, and they do whatever they can to ensure I get what I need,” she said.

She especially appreciates the company’s open-door policy and commitment to professional development, which Glenda credits with allowing her to expand her role and explore her interests.

“I enjoy building workflows and working closely with customers to improve their processes. Not every project manager does that work, and Avolve has always supported me in expanding my role to include these technical aspects, which I’ve been interested in,” she said.

When it comes to the culture of collaboration and support at Avolve, Glenda highlighted the importance of mentorship — both as a mentee and a mentor. Her relationship with her former supervisor has been especially influential during her tenure at Avolve, and she now enjoys passing on her experience to new project managers joining the team.

Glenda also appreciates Avolve’s responsiveness to both customer and internal feedback. The company’s ability to adapt and improve its software based on suggestions from users and project managers ensures that they stay ahead of industry trends and continue to meet the evolving needs of their clients.

When asked what she loves most about working at Avolve, Glenda’s answer was simple: the people. The genuine team spirit and willingness to support one another set Avolve apart from other workplaces. “We’re really an A team who are always willing to go the extra mile for our teammate,” said Glenda. “I hope to stay at Avolve until I retire. I love my job and the people I work with. It’s a great place to be, and I just want to keep doing what I do,” she added.
